CSIR NET June 2026 Qualifying Categories

The Joint CSIR-UGC NET certificate is issued according to the category in which the candidate qualifies:

Category 1: JRF and Assistant Professor

Candidates qualifying under this category are eligible for:

• Award of Junior Research Fellowship;

• Appointment as Assistant Professor, subject to the relevant recruitment rules; and

• Ph.D. admission according to the applicable university or institution procedure.

Category 2: Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission

Candidates qualifying under Category 2 are eligible for:

CSIR NET June 2026 Eligibility

The eligibility conditions in the June 2026 bulletin broadly include the following academic routes:

• M.Sc. or an equivalent degree;

• Integrated BS-MS, BS-4 years or BE/B.Tech. qualification, where permitted;

• B.Pharma qualification, where permitted;

• MBBS qualification, where permitted; or

Minimum marks

• General, EWS and OBC candidates generally require at least 55% marks in the qualifying degree.

CSIR NET June 2026 Exam Pattern

The examination was conducted as a computer-based, objective-type test with a total duration of 180 minutes or 3 hours. The question paper is divided into three parts:
