National Insurance Company Limited has released the Phase I preliminary examination result for NICL Assistant Recruitment 2026–27. The result is published as a PDF containing the roll numbers of candidates provisionally shortlisted for the Phase II Main Examination.

The Phase I online examination was conducted on 27 August 2026. According to the official notice dated 8 October 2026, the NICL Assistant Phase II Main Examination is scheduled for 30 October 2026. NICL Assistant Vacancy Details

NICL announced 500 Assistant Class III vacancies through the 2026–27 recruitment drive. The broad category-wise vacancy figures are:

NICL Assistant Eligibility

Candidates applying for the Assistant post were required to have a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.

Because the recruitment is state/UT-wise, applicants must also satisfy the regional-language requirement for the state or Union Territory selected in the application. The Regional Language Test is held after the Main Examination and is qualifying in nature.

Eligibility, domicile, category and document requirements are checked during the recruitment process. Shortlisting in the Phase I result does not mean that all eligibility conditions have been finally verified.

NICL Assistant Age Limit

The age was calculated as on 1 July 2026:

• Minimum age: 21 years

• Maximum age: 30 years

Age relaxation is available to eligible reserved categories and other groups according to government rules and the NICL recruitment advertisement. Candidates should use the date of birth shown on their matriculation or equivalent certificate when checking eligibility.

NICL Assistant Salary and Benefits

The Assistant post carries the following pay scale:

NICL states that the total gross emoluments are approximately ₹53,000 per month at the initial stage in a metropolitan city, subject to the place of posting and applicable allowances.

Other benefits may include medical benefits, group mediclaim reimbursement, leave travel subsidy and staff welfare schemes under company rules.

Newly appointed employees are placed on probation for a minimum period of six months. The probation period may be extended if performance does not meet the company’s expectations.

NICL Assistant Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

1. Phase I Preliminary Examination

2. Phase II Main Examination

3. Regional Language Test

4. Medical fitness and final appointment formalities

The Regional Language Test is qualifying only. It does not carry separate marks. The final state-wise and category-wise merit list is prepared using the Main Examination score, subject to qualifying the Regional Language Test and satisfying medical and document requirements.

The English Language test is conducted in English. Other sections are generally available in English and Hindi, as prescribed in the official advertisement.

Negative marking

There is a penalty for wrong answers in both Phase I and Phase II. For every incorrect answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question is deducted. No marks are deducted for unanswered questions.

Regional Language Test

Candidates shortlisted through the Main Examination are called for a Regional Language Test at selected centres. The candidate must qualify in the language prescribed for the state or Union Territory for which the application was submitted.

The test may assess the candidate’s ability to read, write, speak or understand the specified regional language, according to the test instructions. No separate score is awarded for this stage, but failure to qualify can remove the candidate from further selection.

Candidates must bring the original and self-attested copies of the documents requested in the Regional Language Test call letter. These may include:

• Valid call letter

• Online application printout

• Photo identity proof

• Proof of date of birth

• Graduation certificate and marksheets

• Category or reservation certificate, if applicable
